What is Sequential OLAP?

Sequential OLAP is an extension to OLAP that enables you to query / analyze data with a logical ordering. For instance, considder a data warehouse that stores data stemming from a public transportation system. Now, users may want to state queries like:

• List all trips that started at any station X continued along any number of other stations and ended again on station X, i.e. list round-trip passengers
• How many passengers travel from any station at district 'Outer District' to any station at district 'Center District'?

Our prototype extends SQL in order to state such queries.
